The Iron Age Hill of Mysteries: Melėnų Pilis, Lithuania

Melėnų Pilis, known locally as Pilelė or Pilies Kalnas, is a unique and intriguing site located in Skiemonių seniūnija, Anykščių region, Melėnų parish. It can be reached via a road from Skiemonys – Želtiškiai, heading west, approximately 1 km west of Skiemonys church and 200 m south of the road. The hill is positioned on a separate hill. The outer walls of Melėnų Pilis span about 25x17 meters. There is a natural terrace, 1.5 meters below the surface, measuring 35 meters wide. Another terrace, 10 meters wide, is 1.5 meters above the surface. These terraces stand 8 meters high. Despite agriculture and cultivation, Melėnų Pilis is currently undergoing development.
