Exploring the hidden dwellings and ancient cemetery at Bijeikis Hillfort: a

Bijeikis Hillfort, also known as Papilio Hill, is an archaeological site located in Anyksciai Region. Situated between the Rubikai Hydrographic District and Dusynos Lakes, its ancient West side has revealed cultural artifacts. In 1943, students from Burbishkio Primary School unearthed an ancient dwelling 1.5 meters beneath the hillfort's south slope. Archaeological studies by the Lithuanian History Institute in 1969 and 1974 confirmed the presence of archaeological remnants, fragments of pottery, wooden posts, and evidence of another hidden dwelling. The findings from Bijeikis Hillfort are now kept at the Lithuanian National Museum.
