Aknystele Hill: A Fortress Rising From Aknystele Lake

Aknystele Hill, hidden beneath Aknystele Lake, offers a captivating account. The hill rises 10 meters high and features a 10-meter-wide staircase, leading to its summit. Once fortified by a shallow ditch and a 10-meter-high bank, it now stands alone, shrouded by the lake formed in 1899 due to a nearby railway construction. A peculiar V-shaped gate, found 400 meters away from the old hillfort, is the only remnant of Aknystele Hill, with the builders, construction date, and motives remaining a mystery.
