Ancient mysteries of the Rubikai Hill Fort

The Rubikai Hill Fort, located in Anykščiai region, Anykščiai seniūnija, is a part of the Pertako (Piliakalnio) hills, situated 60 meters from the shore of Rubikių lake. The hill fort, hidden by vegetation, is dated to the 1st century. The hill fort is oriented north-south, with earth ramparts, 27x18 meters in size. The mounds reach up to 7 meters high. Another hill fort known as I tūkstantmečio antros pusės Šiaulių pilkapynas (destroyed) was 800 meters south of the hill fort. Despite its origins remaining unclear, it is an intriguing relic of ancient Lithuanian history.
