The incomplete masterpiece: Villa Serego

Incomplete when the original owner died in the 16th century, Villa Serego now stands as a testament to the ambition and taste of its Venetian noble commissioner.

Villa Serego, or Villa Sarego, is a Venetian noble residence designed by the architect Andrea Palladio. It was commissioned by Venetian nobleman Marcantonio Sarego around 1560-1570. The villa was not finished when its original owner died. Despite this, the villa's design, including its distinctive Ionic-order columns, reflects the opulence and grandeur of Venetian nobility during the Renaissance period. Villa Serego is included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site 'City of Vicenza and Palladian Villas of the Veneto', but it is not open to the public.
