The Iron Age Hillfort with the masks of Punelė

Kružiųnų piliakalnis, an archaeological site in Alytaus rajono savivaldybės teritorijoje, Adamonių kaime, Punios seniūnija, covers an area of 3.15 hectares and is associated with the hills of Punelė. The imposing protome (aikštelė) of Kružiųnų piliakalnis is built into the Punelė hillside at a height of 21 meters, stretches 19 meters wide and is 5 to 12 meters high. Its unique mask-like, rectangular shape is accentuated by the stairs. The site was first studied by the Institute of History in 1972 and is dated to the Iron Age.
