The Iron Age Mystery of Šilēnų Hillfort

Aštrusis kalnas, also known as Šilēnų hillfort, is an archaeological site located within the territory of Birštonas municipality, specifically in Šilēnų village, about 3 kilometers from Nemajūnai. The hillfort is situated on a plateau at a higher altitude. The open area is separated from the hill by about 100 meters of a bank in a relief. According to the source material, the hillfort is dated to the Iron Age and was discovered by the Institute of History in 1971. Lithuania's Cultural Heritage Protection Commission registered the hillfort in 1998, with its territory covering 9,200 square meters.
