The hillfort at Nemajūnų piliakalnis, known as Pilalė, stands 10 meters tall and is situated in the upper terrace of the Nemunas riverbank. Forming an oval shape approximately 37 meters in width and 23 meters in length, this ancient fortress lies in a separate hill covered with a separate woodland. While the exact construction date is unknown, excavations by E. Volteris in 1888 did reveal the existence of the ancient settlement. For centuries, the hillfort was forgotten, standing silently in the territory of Birštonas municipality. However, recent discoveries in the surrounding area suggest that the secrets of Pilalė remain to be uncovered.
