Triangular Ancient Hillfort Hides an Ancient Settlement

Pilas, a triangular hillfort, is located in Senojoje Ipiltyje, Lithuania. Inhabited by an ancient ethnic culture during the 1st millennium BC to the 13th century, this hillfort, measuring 27 meters in length, 26 meters in width, and 30 meters in its north side, has a 0.5 meter high and 15 meters wide north side. Approximately 1 hectare of its southern part served as a settlement for the aforementioned culture. The hillfort's terrain has been subject to erosion over time, and stairs, reaching up to 6 meters, have been built to access it. Archaeologists excavated the hillfort in 1960, 1963, 1982, 1992, and 1996, unearthing some artifacts. About 1 km to the west from the hillfort lies the legendary Oreo stone, from which salt is said to flow.
