Auksūdys Hillfort: Approximately 500 Meters from Darbėnai Along Road 218

Auksūdys hillfort, also known as Pilale, is an archaeological site located in Auksūdys hamlet, under the care of the Lithuanian archaeological heritage department. The hillfort, dating back to the Iron Age, is partially hidden in the territory of Kretingos region, Pilalė region, near Darbo uphill. Accessible by road 218, it is approximately 500 meters from Darbėnai through an improved gravel road, and 200 meters from the center of the canal towards the north. The hillfort area covers about 45x35 meters, with the highest point being 0.4 meters above the ground and 5 meters in height made of stone blocks. In 1995, an iron II artifact of the Middle Ages was found 18 meters towards the east from the hillfort. A 1.3x1.0 meter and 40–70 cm high stone slab, similar to a grave marker, lies nearby.
