Standing proudly in Zamora, this monument is a carved tribute to the Lusitanian hero, Viriathus. Masterfully crafted by Eduardo Barrón, using durable bronze and resting upon a Torrefrades granite pedestal, believed to be Viriathus's birthplace, it is an impressive sight. However, the striking composition of the statue has sparked debate, as many question if its posture symbolizes defiance or a Roman salute. To date, no irrefutable evidence supports the latter theory, making the debate an intriguing conundrum, deserving of further analysis and examination.
