Iron Age Hill Fortress Hidden Among Lithuania's Fields: Galinių kinot

Galinių kinot, a hill fortress formed from clay and stones, sits amidst the fields of the Kelmė region, near Mietkalnio and Galinių villages. Dating back to the Iron Age, it is found at the end of a path from Kražiai – Akmeniai Galinuose, where fields lead to a gate – to the right of the courtyard – altogether. The hill, 1.1 km long, is enclosed by a wall, reinforced with rims and corners. Within the courtyard of Galinių kinot, there is a 1-hectare residential settlement, where pottery is uncovered.
