The steep slopes and southern entrance of Piliakalnis: An ancient wooden

Piliakalnis, an ancient wooden fortress, is located in the Seredziai region, on the upper terrace of Nemuno aukštutinės terasos, near Pieštvės upelio. The fortress is approximately 50 meters long in the north-south direction. Its width is not specified in the source material. The structure has two entrances, one in the southeast and one in the northwest. The southeast entrance is protected by a 7-meter-high tower with a 20-meter-wide gate, while the northwest entrance is guarded by a 3-meter-high tower. The western side of the fortress has a 2-meter-tall terrace 6 meters below the highest point. The stones used to build the fortress are arbitrary, with the first wall made of large stones and smaller stones used in the upper part. In the middle of the fortress, there is a small hill. The fortress dates back to the 1st half of the 15th century.
