Jadagoniai hillfort: A ruler's private fortress in the heart of Lithuania

Jadagoniai hillfort, often referred to as Raguvos kalnu, is located 0.2 km southwest of Jadagonių kaimo, within the territories of Zapyškio seniūnija, Kauno rajono savivaldybės. It is approximately 1.5 km to the east of Jadagonių alkakalnis and 1.2 km northeast of Liekės and Nemuno santakos. Archaeological research has revealed that Jadagoniai hillfort served as a Lithuanian Junigedos pilies, a strategic stronghold akin to Veliuonos piliakalniu. The main altar atop the hill and the earlier fortifications beneath are integral to Lithuania's cultural and historical legacy.
