Tucked away in Universitetsparken, Upplands runinskrifter 943, a unique rune stone, stands that hides a curious tale. It shares the park with eight other rune stones, each one unique in its own right. However, this one is unlike the others. Unlike most other rune stones erected to commemorate the dead along major roads, Upplands runinskrifter 943 was likely originally purposed as a grave marker on a Christian grave site. The stone boasts intricate ornamentation, featuring a simple rune engraving, a rune orm, and a large Christian cross.
Large sections of the rune engraving are missing on both the left and right sides of the stone. Only a part of the inscription remains, with the missing pieces holding the rest of the story. The incomplete inscription on Upplands runinskrifter 943 leaves the identity of those beyond Björn who raised the stone a mystery. The identity of the person being honored with the raising of Upplands runinskrifter 943 is also unknown. The stone was not signed by the runestone carver.
