Located in the municipality of The Bruc, Castell Ferran is a defence tower with a circular plan and two floors, protected as a cultural asset of local interest.
The tower is guarded by a small defensive wall. Its brick spitfire openings come in two levels, hinting at a possible defence strategy.
At its corners, the remains of a plaster are noticeable. Originally, the tower had a circular roof, but its whereabouts remain a mystery.
During military conflicts, such as the first and second battle of the Bruc, which took place in 1808, the tower would have been crucial in guarding the area.
In 1911, Carreras and Candi mentioned that near the large mansion called Can Maçanet, built on the Montserrat pass and which 'serves as an inn', 'a circular fortress with round towers at the corners rises. Nearby, at the upper part of the hill of Puig Ferran (twenty minutes), there exist two small fortresses, where in times of war or popular disturbances, military patrols have camped in contemporary times.'
Although some of its elements may suggest a greater antiquity, we conjecture that it should date from the last century.
