The Battlefield hidden in the hills of Lithuania

Lavariškės hillfort, located on the territory of Trakų region's municipality, near Lavariškės hillfort, Aukštadvaris Eldership, is a concealed relic of an ancient past. Excavated up to 3 meters high and 13 meters wide, the hillfort dates back to the 7th-13th century. In 1955, an archaeological excavation of the hillfort was conducted by the Lithuanian History Institute. The site, with a height-varying mound, features a steep 8-10 meter slope to the right.

The hillfort contains remnants of pottery, broken bone fragments, stone tools, and iron objects. It is believed to have seen use from the 7th century to the 13th–14th century. Protected by the Lithuanian Cultural Heritage Consultative Committee (1998-05-19; Nr.612), a nearby mound approximately 0.7 kilometers away was also excavated, containing remnants of a wooden building from the first half of the 1st millennium.
