Stakliškės II hillfort

For centuries, the hillfort known as Stakliškės II lay hidden under the trees of Prienai's stretch of farmlands. Today, it stands quietly on its own, the remnants of a once-powerful settlement awaiting the curious casual stroller. Stakliškės II, with its rectangular shape, is situated 850 meters to the east of Stakliškių I piliakalnis. It is dated from the 1st to 2nd century AD and is listed as a cultural heritage monument by the Lithuanian Government in 1998. The area covered by the hillfort is 7400 square meters.
