Secrets of the Past: Unveiling Norkūnų I Piliakalnis' Hidden Treasures

Norkūnų I Piliakalnis, known simply as Norkūnų, is located in Balbieriškio seniūnija's road towards Dubiai, 100 meters east of the Balbieriškis – Dubiai junction, near Mikasas. The site is marked by its eastern fortifications, which stretch for 15 meters and tower 15 meters high. Initially inhabited by early Christians, it later became home to pagans during the Iron Age. Over 220 square meters of cultural finds, including pottery, glass, bone, wooden objects, and weaving looms, have been discovered here. To the east, the medieval village preserves houses, stables, and a church dating back to the 10th and 11th centuries.
