The Ancient Fortress hill near Lieplaukė

The hillfort near Lieplaukė, also known as Lieplaukalės piliakalnis, is located in the Plungė region, near the natural hill from which the ancient stream Liepupė flows. The hillfort is situated on a separate hill, with a height of approximately 55-60 meters and a diameter of up to 30 meters at the base. The hillfort enclosure is oval, surrounded by a ditch, with a size of 17x9 meters. The height of the hillfort is 7 meters and it was fortified with a double ditch. Today, the hillfort can be found in the territory of Lieplaukė, Pilalė, in the Plungė region. No cultural or burial finds were found in the hillfort. The hillfort was first studied in 1964 by the Institute of History of Lithuania, and it is dated to the 1st millennium AD.
