Tucked in the beating heart of Rome, just beside the church of Sant'Omobono, you'll find a peculiar archaeological site - the Temples of S. Omobono. Unearthed way back in 1937, they offer tantalizing glimpses into the city's archaic and republican past with mysteries such as the sites of the temple of Fortuna and the temple of Mater Matuta waiting to be decoded. Beneath these temples rests an even older temple from the archaic period, dating back to the 6th century BCE. Wrapped in the Forum Holitorium and the Forum Boarium, the Temples of S. Omobono are currently the focus of a curious joint team, with hidden tales yearning to be unraveled.
