Rudžių Hill Fort: A Defensive Settlement in 1st Century BC Lithuania

Rudžių Hill Fort, located in the Rokiškės region, near the village of Rudžiai in Kamajūnai seniūnija, is an archaeological site (Unique Objects List Code 23851) that dates back to the 1st century BC. The site, covering an area of 0.3 hectares, contains the remnants of pottery and ceramics suggesting a settlement. The discovery of Rudžių Hill Fort was made in 1984 and 1985. The hill is triangular in shape and has a hill fort on the west side, which is 35 meters long, 15 meters wide at the top.

There is a platform, 4-7 meters high, at the top of the hill. The hill fort may have been built for defensive purposes. The hill fort has entrances in the center. The hill is covered with trees, and the site is located in the middle of a hill, separated from the surrounding natural holes. The territory of the monument is 10,000 m². Lietuvos Respublikos Vyriausybės declared it a protected cultural heritage monument in 1998.
