The Mythical Exedra: Palace Priuli Ballan's Hidden Gem

Step inside the Palace Priuli Ballan and discover the surprisingly mythical remnants of a forgotten exedra, partially destroyed by time and war.

The Palace Priuli Ballan, situated in Piove di Sacco, Italy, showcases the grandeur of Venetian villas. Originally owned by Alvise Priuli, the complex is first mentioned in a 'declaration of the cadastral value' from 1518. The 'barchesse' (wings) and oratory are mentioned in documents from the mid-1700s. During the First World War, the Palace Priuli Ballan served as a military hospital. A devastating fire in 1940 caused significant damage, and the restoration was carried out by the Bastianello Family in cooperation with the Superintendency for Cultural Property. The exedra, a significant part of the complex, still holds a statue, said to represent a figure from Greek mythology. It remains unclear if the exedra is currently owned.
