On April 7, 1971, Miro Barešić and Andelko Brajkovic break into the Yugoslavian embassy on Strandvägen, taking the ambassador hostage and barricading themselves in his office. While the police attempt to storm the building, the cold-blooded intruders shoot the ambassador, who dies a week later at the hospital. Both associates of the Croatian Ustasja movement are sentenced to life imprisonment but are already released in 1972, in connection with a highly publicized plane hijacking at Bulltofta airport.
A chilling diplomatic murder
