Up until 1967, the current Maxim Theatre housed Sweden's Radio's Karlaplansstudio. The Beatles' first performance in Sweden took place at Karlaplansstudio on October 24, 1963. The organizers had distributed 100 free tickets, but it turned out that approximately 250 people wanted to attend the concert. The 25-minute concert was recorded to be broadcast in its entirety on radio on November 1 of the same year. This was, in fact, the first time Sweden's Radio recorded a pop group. Although the Beatles had not yet gained widespread fame, a large group of fans gathered around the group's blue Fiat 1500 that was parked outside the studio.
