Mančiūnų Piliakalnis: Lithuania's Hidden Pyramid Hillfort

Mančiūnų Piliakalnis, situated in the territory of Kaišiadorių region’s municipality, near Mančiūnų, Žaslių seniūnija, is one of Lithuania’s largest pyramid-shaped hillforts. It has a triangular shape, with a base of 67 meters in width, 50 meters in length, and 52 meters in height. The base steps are 1.5 meters high and 1.5 meters wide, followed by a 3-meter long step, then another 4-meter wide, 0.5-meter high step, and finally a 2-meter wide, 0.3-meter high step.

The hillfort is approximately 13 meters high in the front and 4 meters high at the back, due to erosion and other natural factors. It dates back from the first century BC to the 2nd century AD. The Lithuanian Republic’s Government declared the hillfort as a cultural heritage site on May 19, 1998. The area of the cultural heritage site is 16,500 square meters. The hillfort was reported by the History Institute in 1971.
