Ancient Hillfort Discovered Under the Old Valley of Muro Strevininkai, Lithuania

The hillfort at Mūro Strevininkų, situated in the Kaišiadorių district of Lithuania, is a hidden city with a unique history unlike the village above. It was uncovered beneath the left bank of the river, in the old valley, in the upper part. This hillfort is surrounded by a ditch and a palisade. The height of the hillfort ranges from 8.5 to 16 meters. The area covered by the hillfort spans 20,000 m². It bears the name of the region of Strėva. The legacy of Mūro Strevininkų piliakalnis is protected by the Cultural Heritage Protection Act of the Republic of Lithuania. The excavation of Mūro Strevininkų piliakalnis was carried out by the Historical Institute in 1971. Mūro Strevininkų piliakalnis is listed as a protected cultural property by the Government of the Republic of Lithuania.
