Located in Utena district, in Kačiūnų village, this hillfort was the scene of ancient human activity before 10,000 to 1,000 years ago. Its eastern part is riddled with stone foundations and remains of brick walls. The hillfort's enclosure is oval and reaches 60x35 meters. Within its confines, a dwelling area with a hearth and evidence of blacksmithing were found. Archeological investigations were conducted in 1972 by Utena District Museum and in 1973 by Lithuania's History Institute. Findings included broken ceramic pieces and stone objects. Today, the site is largely abandoned, with only foundations remaining to tell the story of those who once inhabited it. A visit to Kačiūnų piliakalnis provides a fascinating glimpse into Lithuania's ancient past.
