The Iron Age Hill Fort in Molėtų region, Lithuania

The Iron Age Hill Fort, known as Pelėnių piliakalnis, is located in the Molėtų region of Lithuania, 300 meters from Pelenių, Suginčių seniūnija. Dating back to the Iron Age, it is an archaeological site of cultural significance that was excavated in 1970 and further in 1978. The hill fort is oval-shaped and faces westward, with a flat terrain for approximately 2.5 meters from the top and a drop of 15 meters after that. There is a 4 meter-wide terrace at the base of the hill, paved with stones. The hill fort is protected by fences. Visitors can access it by footpaths, making it an attractive spot for hikers interested in history and great views. The gallery at the base of the hill features archaeological finds, including a cast-iron altar with a crucifix on top and pottery.
