Standing today as a national cultural heritage site, Castell de Granera in Moianès, Spain, offers a glimpse into the region's rich history. Built over several centuries – with signs of earlier centuries in the north-western sector – the castle's walls and interior whisper the stories of the centuries past as a testament to the town's past. The eastern part, where the entrance arch is, seems to be from the 14th century. The interior of the castle has been renovated in the modern age. The chapel of Santa Maria, which is from the 17th century, has walls with a possible Romanesque part. The castle was documented in 971, and it was under the County of Manresa's jurisdiction. In 1023, it was empenyorated to Berenguer Ramon I by Countess Ermessenda of Carcassona.
