Bambininkų piliakalnis

The site of Bambininkų piliakalnis, situated near Bambininkų village in Alytus rajono savivaldybė, is an archaeological site rich in history. The mounds at the Bambininkų piliakalnis are approximately 6-7 meters high. The oval embankment of the Bambininkų piliakalnis is 30 x 15 meters. An archaeological cultural layer 0.3-0.7 meters deep is found in the Bambininkų piliakalnis. There is a 3 meter high ditch on both sides of the Bambininkų piliakalnis, created by ancient earthworks.

Archaeological research of the Bambininkų piliakalnis was conducted in 1954 and 1962 by the Institute of History of Lithuania. Lipdytinės brūkšniuotu (a type of pottery) and grublėtu (a type of dugout) were found in the Bambininkų piliakalnis and the surrounding area. The Bambininkų piliakalnis was used from the 1st century AD to the 13th-14th century AD. The findings from the Bambininkų piliakalnis are kept in the National Museum of Lithuania.
