Ancient Remains and the Mystery of Bakšėnų Hill

Bakšėnų Hill, an archaeological site situated near Bakšėnų village in Lithuania, has intrigued archaeologists for centuries. Covering approximately 30 x 26 meters with a slight oval shape, the hill features a notable ditch in its center (now drained). The hill's northern and western sides slope gently, while its eastern and southern sides display steep slopes. The excavations conducted on the hill uncovered remnants of wooden structures, two carved stones, a ceramic pot, and other artifacts at the hill's central location. These discoveries were relocated to the Lietuvos nacionalinis muziejus for preservation. Bakšėnų Hill was added to the Lietuvos kultūros paminklų sąrašą in 1973 and is legally protected as cultural heritage since 1998.
