Klausučių Hill: a forgotten stronghold

The Klausučių Hill, aka the Iron Hill, is a haunting ruin on the border of PR and ŠV, within the Širvėna region of Lithuania. At a height of 7-8 meters, and a breadth of just 1 meter, the hill was built as a stronghold - but it was also razed as much as it was constructed. The hill's ruins are still 3-4 meters high, but the majority of the hill was built of wood, which was naturally vulnerable and burned with ease. The statues carrying swords, 5 meters tall, are all that remain of the wooden edifices.

The hill is located at the border of PR–ŠV, along a road where it can be reached from Biržų–Vabalninko plentas by traveling to the right (PV), 650 m from Klausučių gates. The hill is 50 m from Klausučių gates to the right (ŠV) along the road, with a trail leading to the side of the hill, where you can find two stone slabs with inscriptions. According to the sources, it was built and demolished several times over, which is why not much of it remains today.
