Mystery Hillfort: 1,500 Years of Secrets in a High Terrace

Žeimių piliakalnis, known also as Skaistakalnis and Jasnagurka, is a hillfort located in Žeimiuose, Žeimių seniūnija, Lithuania. Dating back to the second millennium, its quadrilateral shape is surrounded by a 14-meter-wide earthen ditch, 1.5 meters high at its center. In the high terrain, a mound rises. The northern part of the ditch contains a 12-meter-wide, 3-meter-deep trench, 6 meters wide on its right side, while steps leading down into the ditches are approximately 5-6 meters in height. The structure was constructed from ancient materials.
