Hidden in rural Lithuania, near a modern town, lies Kiauklių hillfort. It was discovered in 1970 by the Institute of History and is located in the territory of Širvintų Region municipality. With a diameter of 30 meters by 10 meters and a height of 1 meter above ground level, the oval-shaped hillfort was built with stones and has a scar from a flood caused by snowmelt in the early Middle Ages. There is a 0.3 meter high, 5 meter wide entrance on the south side of the hill, and a 5 meter wide terrace 1.5 meters below the entrance. The hillfort was established as a cultural heritage conservation area of the Lithuanian Republic's Cultural Heritage Conservation Board on April 29, 2005, and it is listed in the Lithuanian Cultural Heritage Register. Visitors can explore the hillfort, with stairs statues 5.5 to 9 meters high.
