Visginai Hillfort: Stretching 140 Metres and 170 Metres

Visginai hillfort, located in Kruonis, Kaišiadoriai region, Lithuania, was built in the 1st century AD. The fortifications, once extending as far as 140 metres to the northwest and 170 metres to the southwest, surrounded a hill 13.5 metres wide, with walls 1.5 metres high and a circumference of 17 metres. Thirty-five to forty metre tall stelae and statues once pierced its walls. Protected by a ditch around its four sides, 27x16 metres in size, the hillfort was excavated in 1953. Today, remains of Visginai hillfort can be found from 140 metres away to the northwest and as far as 170 metres to the southwest.
