U 933: Viking-Era Memorial Runestone in Uppsala

U 933, also known as the Uppland Runic Inscription 933, is a Viking Age memorial runestone situated at the Uppsala Cathedral in Uppsala, Sweden. Carved in the younger futhark runic script, the inscription is intertwined within a serpent band surrounding other interwoven serpents. It measures 1.95 meters in height. Discovered in 1866 within the foundation walls of the Uppsala Cathedral, the inscription is attributed to the runemaster Öpir and classified as being carved in runestone style Pr5, also known as Urnes style. The style is characterized by slim and stylized animals intricately woven into tight patterns.
