The Palazzo dei Priori, a medieval-Renaissance palace in the heart of Fermo, houses an extraordinary collection: the Hall of the World Map. Completed in 1688 by Adamo Sacripante on commission of the local Cardinal, it showcases a world map created by the geographer Silvestro Amanzio Maroncelli in 1713. The map, a veritable portal to the globetrotting of the 17th century, is the linchpin of the 17th century collection started by the local Cardinal, aided by his friend Queen Christina of Sweden. Today, the compilation is known as the Biblioteca Spezioli, shared between this palace and the adjacent building. In the gallery, visitors can also discover local artworks and cultural items.
