The enigmatic remnants of the bishop's palace in Valls

The Castell de l'Arquebisbe, a vanished structure in Valls (Alt Camp), now only boasts its national-interest-declared portal. The courtyard of arms of the castle is reimagined as Plaça del Pati. Inside the Castell de l'Arquebisbe, 18th-century furnishings and attire are preserved. Named 'Castell de l'Arquebisbe' due to the Valls jurisdiction being ruled by Tarragona's archbishops, the square's name 'El Pati' mirrors the old courtyard's title. The castle served as the residence of the Baldric family, with the initial secular owner being Pau Baldric, a philosophy scholar. During the Napoleonic Wars, his house transformed into a Military Hospital. The reactor Ferran VII of Spain and some of his relatives stayed at the edifice on 3rd April, 1814.
