The Sant Tirs d'Oliola church: Over a thousand years of history along the hills

Sant Tirs d'Oliola is the parish church of Oliola, a small village in La Noguera, Catalonia. The church, hidden in plain sight at the foot of the hill where the castle ruins are perched, dates back to 1061, when Pete Miró donated half of his belongings to the church's construction. Its main structure remains from the 11th century, a testament to its rich and long history. The interior features a single nave, semicircular vaults, and three double-arched windows in the semicircular apse. The church also has a bell tower, with a pyramidal roof, attached to the interior. The building's construction and ornamentation is characteristic of late 11th or early 12th century Lombard architecture.
