The Spanish theatre where a famous actor's career began: A total renaissance

Teatro Vico, the solitary theatre in the Spanish town of Jumilla, was declared a cultural monument in 1995. Constructed between 1881 and 1883 under the supervision of Architect Justo Millán Espinosa, who also designed the Teatro Romea in Murcia, the theatre was built on the foundations that once held the planned Coliseo of 1868. In 1890, it was rechristened Teatro Vico, honoring the celebrated Spanish actor Antonio Vico, who initated his professional career in Valencia in 1841. Known as the total renaissance, Antonio Vico's rise to fame and his significant contributions to the world of theatre have left an enduring impact on Jumilla and beyond.
