The remnant of Agost Castle

The remnant of Agost Castle, found atop the highest point of the old town of Agost in eastern Spain, might have once been a powerful Muslim fortress. Possibly constructed during the Muslim era, the castle served as a commanding position over the surrounding landscape, with its walls reaching high into the sky. However, over the centuries, time took its toll and the castle, along with large parts of the town, was abandoned. All that remains now is a remnant of its original wall, a solitary testament to a rich and tumultuous history. An ermita de San Pedro, originally the chapel of the castle, stands nearby and was built using the same stones.
