Baraing Castle, nestled in Val d'Aosta, looms over Pont-Saint-Marin at the Lys Valley's entrance. Constructed by Doctor and Philanthropist Hannibal Baraing, following his marriage to Delphine Bianco – for whom an elementary school in Pont-Saint-Marin is named – the castle showcases 19th-century Neo-Gothic style. It was completed in 1894, a year before Baraing's passing. The castle recalls the legacy of the old Pont-Saint-Marin castle, which lay higher in the town, but with a more inclusive design, echoing Baraing's dedication to the people.
She, Baraing's widow, retained the castle until 1931, when it was handed over to the municipality of Pont-Saint-Marin, serving as the community's administrative hub until the end of World War II. Afterward, it functioned as the regional professional institute. Abandoned for a while, the castle underwent restoration, and it is now under the ownership and care of the Mont-Rose community, who uses it as their administrative seat.
