Welcome to an exhilarating expedition to the charming and enigmatic Conca de Dalt in Spain. We'll be focusing on the intriguing Sant Miquel, a church located under the waters of the Sant Antoni reservoir. Remnants of this church reveal the stories of a community affectionately called 'snails'. This church, a sufragary of the parish of Sant Urbà de Montesquiu, dates back to the medieval era, but by 1945, when the reservoir waters receded, its remnants, a massive necropolis, and an unexplained structure were revealed.
The origins or meaning of this puzzling structure still remain a mystery. Today, a preserved fragment of a funerary inscription, potentially from a grand tomb, can be found in Lleida's Museum of the Institute of Ilerdian Studies. The crossroads of the site, echoing its significance in the Roman era, were marked by the burial of the villagers. However, the purpose or origin of the structure where their remains were gathered continues to be a tantalizing enigma.
