The iron-age hill fort with two palisades

Paalkių piliakalnis is located in the territory of Elektrėnų municipality, between Paalkių and Diržonių. The archaeological site of Paalkių piliakalnis is located in Kazokiškių seniūnija. The enclosure wall is oriented from west to east, and stands 6 meters high, 12 meters wide, and 0.5 meters below the ground level. It is surrounded by a double wall and ditch. The first palisade is 3.5 meters high, 18.5 meters wide, and 10 meters thick. The first palisade has a gate on the northwest. The second palisade is 1.8 meters high, 5 meters wide, and 1 meter thick and is built on the first palisade. A 2-meter slat is built into the second palisade to increase its height. The site of Paalkių piliakalnis is dated to the Iron Age. The archaeological site was excavated in 2001. The protected territory of Paalkių piliakalnis is 1.18 hectares.
