The First Millennium Fortress Hill of Bielazariškių: A Quadruangular Structure

Bielazariškių piliakalnis, also known as Gura zamkova, Pilies kalnas, Pilis, is a well-preserved fortified hill situated in the Dūkštų seniūnija region of Vilniaus County, Lithuania. It lies between the villages of Airėnai and Bielazariškės, with a gap in the fence leading towards the north-east, spanning approximately 90x40 meters in size. This hillfort is situated on the right bank of the Neris river. Some parts of the hillfort’s walls, reaching up to 30 meters high, are covered with trees.<br>The Instituto di Storia first detected the hillfort in 1971. While no excavations have been found at Bielazariškių piliakalnis, surface findings suggest the presence of a cultural layer with pottery. The hillfort is protected by the Lithuanian National Museum.
