An Ancient Stronghold Hidden in Lithuania's Wetlands Unveiled

Hidden in the remote Zaras region, this Iron Age fortress, dated back to the Iron Age, is protected by law. For decades, the exact location has remained a secret, but archaeological excavations in the 1980s unveiled scattered stone structures, shards of pottery, fragments of iron, and remnants of pots. The site forms an oval shape, with a 2-meter wide terrace running through the center. Over time, erosion has taken its toll, but the site remains a testament to the past.
