Hidden among the farms and meadows, Rekčių piliakalnis is a hillfort found in the countryside between Šiauliai and Kursėnai. Originally a fortified settlement from the Middle Iron Age, it is now a popular weekend marketplace. Every Saturday, local farmers and artisans fill the stone structure at the top of the hill with their produce and handicrafts. Archaeological investigations of the hillfort were conducted in 1966 by the Lithuanian History Institute, part of the 0.7 ha site is a habitation site.
