The hidden Iron Age hillfort of Daugailiai

The hillfort named Kubilių piliakalnis, situated in Utena region, near Daugailiai, is a hidden treasure from the Iron Age. It is a unique cultural heritage object protected by the Lithuanian government since 1970. The site, which covers 5.5 hectares, is situated in a separate large hill, with a steep northern slope. The hillfort is a quadrilateral, surrounded by a ditch, 120x87 meters in size, up to 3 meters deep and 20 meters wide on the southern side. There are standing stones at Kubilių piliakalnis, 8-20 meters tall, only the northern stone leans to the west, approximately 2 meters tall.
