Ancient hillfort concealed on the Dysis River bank in Lithuania

An ancient hillfort, hidden on a hill slope on the right bank of the Dysis River, near Ruokiškės, Naujojo Daugėliškio seniūnija, in Ignalina region, is found on the hill. The fortress's main feature is a large oval platform at the south-west moat, 30m long and 17m wide, with cultural layers. The secondary platform is an 18m wide north-east terrace, and the north-east platform is a triangular terrace, 22m long and 20m wide. The moats range from 4–11m high, with a delta of 4m on top. The hillfort is believed to date from the first century BC to the first century AD. Research was conducted in 1976 and 1985.
